Social Media and Events Coordinator
Description
We are seeking a talented marketing professional on the rise (with 2+ years of experience) to develop narratives and go-to-market strategies as part of our restaurant’s marketing plans. The role is based at Chama Mama, an acclaimed Georgian restaurant in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City – the restaurant will be expanding to new locations in 2020 and 2021.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Planning the social media calendar across key platforms (Instagram, Facebook), with images and captions for the upcoming month.
- Maintaining the restaurant’s Yelp and Google pages, as well as responding to reviews.
- Preparing and planning bi-weekly email newsletter mailing themes, including upcoming news and offers to share with our community and clients.
- Planning marketing events at the restaurant, including public-facing events and offers (around holidays), cooking classes, wine tastings, off-site tastings, trade event participation, and more.
- Overseeing private event bookings and the overall marketing of seasonal menus.
- Setting up and executing photo shoots for social media and our website.
- Maintaining website and other platforms; keeping key information updated.
- Serving as a liaison for new business development (new catering clients, etc.)
- Creating restaurant marketing materials, such as flyers, posters, menus, paid social media ads, etc.
This is a highly cross-functional role that requires you to work onsite and align with the team and advertiser objectives, which usually adjust based on the market and industry conditions, as well as the feedback from the customers and the management team.
You will be working directly with the owner of the restaurant, as well as the General Manager, Chef, kitchen and restaurant staff as well as in-house designer and photographer.

Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional social media and marketing experience
- Experience owning creative input, development and execution from concept to completion
- Experience and strong knowledge of Social Media platforms and usage (Instagram, Facebook, Linked In, Google Business, Yelp, Tripadvisor, and Twitter, among others)
- Experience in building and owning planning calendars, defining priorities and executing and scaling cross-functional marketing campaigns
- Knowledge of presenting metrics and progress to the senior management team
- Experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements
- Experience using Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, some photo editing and creative apps to create social calendars and marketing campaigns
- Entrepreneurial spirit/ability to try different things and present new ideas of always improving the content in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction
- Quick decision-making abilities, demonstrating action under tight timing and pressure
- Confident go getter who is creative and motivated into growing into this role along with the company and the team
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or a related discipline
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

We are a young company with over 50 employees in just over 1 year in New York City. We opened our Chelsea flagship in March 2019 and recently signed for a second location on the Upper West Side.
